Casual + Dressy = MAGIC!

I thought I'd pair a very basic white tee with a dressy skirt and see what happens. I think, it worked out well. Your thoughts?

Theses are incredibly comfortable shoes, especially considering how strappy they are.

Shirt: Target (Men's Hanes 5-pack V-neck Shirts) $5.99; Scarf: Dillard's (2+ yrs ago); Skirt: Express $49.99;
Shoes: Charlotte Russe (4+ years ago) $19.99

Friday Diary (A little late)

So, sorry for posting this late but I've been SOOO busy this week. I had a test on Friday and spent the entire week studying for that, in painfully ugly outfits mind you.
Diary Entry:
  • So, I got a 100% on the general knowledge test I had to take for a job I applied for--FINGERS CROSSED!
  • I don't know what I got on my AutoCAD test yet, but hopefully I did well
  • Discovered a poet/scholar/thinker that I'm very interested in/ impressed by, Rumi
That's pretty much it. I will be getting my hair trimmed this week so look out for that post.

So, today I discovered that I LOVE the way bright pink lipstick looks on me! Its extremely flattering and that is surprising, considering I can't pull of red lips to save my life!

Headband: ROSS, Sweater: SAM'S CLUB $4.99, Shirt: Express 2 yrs old Jeans: Express $89.99, Nails: Ulta Peach Parfait

I got these jeans a good month ago and they fit like a dream but, per usual, they are too long :( Generally, my mom promises to hem them and then keeps them for a month or so until I find them and start wearing the pants anyways...gotta keep the tradition alive, right? So I wore these today with the highest pair of wedges I own and it didn't look awful!

Friday Dairy

So, I've decided I'm going to do a diary entry on Fridays. Mainly, because there are lots of things that happen throughout the week that I want to blog about but they don't really mesh well with the OFOTD posts.

This Week
  • Applied to a few different positions, noticed there are more jobs available (YAY!)
  • Started using my journal for 'ToDo Lists'
  • Devised a good technique for mapping out my calendar (w/ deadlines & due dates)
  • Not enough sleep (go to bed at 1-2am, wake up at 6-7 am)
  • Driving to school is getting old
  • Have continued putting on weight
  • Too much homework, not enough motivation
Well, my sister had a Spanish Honor Society induction last night, and we got home pretty late, so I was up late doing homework. Blah! :( I'm too excited for her to be negative, though!

I haven't really decided how I'm going to format these posts, so forgive for me until I do. I hope this was enjoyable for some of you because I'm excited to do more!

A tiger doesn't change its STRIPES!

I had to make -up today for my laziness yesterday. I had a test, so I wore a T-shirt, sweatshirt & track pants to school (HOTT!) This is one of my favorite outfits to wear. When in doubt, pair a tube-top w/ a SUPER COMFY, SOFT & JUST GENERALLY AMAZING cardigan from Express!

You'll notice I absolutely ADORE these cardigans. I have at least 7 and they are well worth the money! They literally last a lifetime (the first one I bought is now 3 years old and in MINT condition) and they feel like nothing else. I swear those rabbit's foot key chains are rough compared to these babies! GET ONE, GET IT NOW!!!!!

I got this ring from Charlotte Russe in JAX, FL and I thought it was so unique I fell in love! I've never seen anything similar to it in Texas, sorry guys! :(

Necklace: F21 Sweater: Express (sale, $29.50) Tube-top: Express (sale bin, $5) Trousers: NY&Company (BOGO 1/2, $29.99) Rings: Charlotte Russe (JAX,FL $4 each)

Long overdue...Press-on Nails

So, I promised a review on Press on Nails about a month ago and I'm finally making good on my promise! :) I have used Broadway brand nails a total of 3 times, now. I was blown away by the realistic quality of them the first time I used them and so I kept coming back, but since that first use back in November 2006 I have been sorely disappointed.
Likes: two sets in each box means inexpensive unique designs

Dislikes: pop off CONSTANTLY, glue hardens under nails leading to an unprofessional look
All in all, these nails aren't worth the hassle! I thought maybe I was applying them incorrectly, because the first time I used them I was in awe! However, after 2 boxes and 4 applications, I'm NOT the problem. I can't decide if the nail quality has gone down or if I my expectatins were too high , but something about Broadway has dissapointed me! I'm planning on trying 'Kiss' brand press-ons because I've heard some decent reviews on them. I'll keep you posted! Go shopping at I have used the: 'Charming' medium sized-modern square nails.

Attempt at a VCR repair...

So, I have this amazing VCR from the mid-late 90s that has decided to stop ejecting tapes. It's a SLV-776HF (which is the same as the 775HF, just charcoal instead of black) and pretty fancy, something I noticed as I've been attempting to repair it! I'll post some 'guts' pictures when I take it apart for the 4th time, tomorrow! :) I know I'm such a loser and I'd be better off just chucking it, but my little engineering student ego won't let me! I'm looking for advice... I've attempted to: turn the gears that move the roller guides but they appear to have Jedi powers and won't budge; same is true for the pinch roller (there is just NO way to get that sucker to move). Things to know: the motor that turns the pinch roller, roller guides & posts, tension belts runs (but may be to weak to actually turn any of them); there is no such thing as 'manually rotating the gears' in this VCR; the solenoid that is supposed to click when attempting to eject doesn't fire; the roller guides DO NOT immediately move back into place when you de-power the device. In my 'expert' opinion the gears that control the pinch roller and its guide need to get moving and I think this might require replacing the motor (i.e. Power Supply). Does anybody have any ideas?

Photo TAG!

So, I wasn't tagged but I decided I wanted to do this ANYWAY! I saw this on Sarah's blog @If the shoe fits. So here are the rules:
1.Open your 1st Photo folder. 2.Scroll to the 10th photo. 3.Post the photo & the story behind it. 4.Tag 5 or more people.
My picture is actually really sweet and sentimental! This was the ad a group of my friends and I took out in our senior yearbook! Its funny that this happened to be the picture I choose. I really like this tag b/c of this picture! ;) I tag:
Laura @lollipop26writes Dulce @Dulcecandy Natalya @filthygorgeousmakeup Fashion Stylist_ka @fashion stylist_ka Ooohlala! By Ola! @Ooohlala! By Ola!
I'm not so vain as to think that some of these heavy-hitter bloggers read my humble blog, but hey no harm in trying! HAVE A LOVELY, LOVELY DAY!
